Health and Safety

A positive safety culture

Health and SafetyWoodlands, through its Directors, Managers and Operational Staff believe in promoting a positive safety culture. That commitment is demonstrated by:

  • providing suitable resources (time, money and people) to support the management of Health and Safety in the workplace
  • ensuring the active involvement of Senior Management in the Health and Safety system and allocating specific responsibilities for planning and managing health, safety and welfare of employees in the workplace
  • encouragement of open, honest communication between management and employees to develop an ethos of continuous improvement through listening to and acting on feedback in relation to Health and Safety
  • developing and providing safe systems of work for all our employees
  • providing suitable and relevant training to ensure compliance with current regulatory requirements.

Only by actively encouraging the involvement of every employee do we believe that we can achieve a safer working environment for all.

We demand that all of our employees undertake the appropriate level of NVQ relevant to their trade and/or role in the Company. This programme is ongoing in conjunction with our chosen partner Smarterbuilder http://www.smarter-builder.co.uk/

Woodlands wholeheartedly support the CSCS process by ensuring that all employees hold the appropriate card before commencing on site. Where this is not possible we will assist them in obtaining a card and registering them in the NVQ process; our minimum requirement is that an individual will have passed the CSCS Health & Safety Test before being considered for employment.

Safety management and advice is provided internally by our Safety Manager who has recently acquired the NEEBOSH National General Certificate to supplement his previous Safety experience.

In addition to the general training above we are currently undertaking a programme of Health & Safety training developed to support our approach and philosophy and delivered in house utilizing our custom built training and conference facilities at our Head Office.
